Penn and Teller do some great work on their TV show “Bullshit!”. I don’t always agree with their points on everything, but it is always informative. In this episode they took a look at the Environmental Movement.
While their points about the sketchy forces driving the movement as a whole are right on, that isn’t what you should watch it for. Watch it for their insights into the people who join movements like this, their motives and the emotional gaps they are desperately trying to fill by joining in activism they barely understand and never question.
In the coming weeks we will be looking at the phenomenon of “joiners” here at Herdwatching. For now, let Penn and Teller lead off.
