One of the reasons why I will probably never make it onto the “a list” of political or social commentary blogs is because I jut can’t find a way to even pretend to be seriously academic. I am too honest for that, too willing to call things what they are.
There are some seriously insane people out there, and they all have a cause.
There is just no way I can avoid laughing at people like “The Porn Detective” and those who think this insanity is a good idea. Unfortunately, that might also be a problem.
No matter how laughable they are, no matter how crazy they are the may well prove to be dangerous. Like the neo-Nazi skinheads you occasionally run into on the subway. They are both ridiculous in their lack of reality grounding and dangerous because of that same flaw. They simply see the world through the lenses of their particular delusion.
The similarities don’t end there. Both groups share a common basis… a deep seated need to blame personal failures on someone else. Whether it be men, “the Jews” or other women. Yes, I said other women. Make no mistake about it the basis of most extreme radical feminism is a hatred not just of “the patriarchy” but of any woman who doesn’t share and re-enforce the delusion. If your not with them, you are against them it seems.
Back to the topic at hand. As far as I can tell here are the essential tactics of “The Porn Detective”…
- Find people who are doing something you don’t approve of morally
- Destroy their property and vandalize their places of business and / or home
- Take pictures of anyone you can and post them on the Internet
- Hope that this will somehow shame them into following your morality over their own
And let’s not forget the last one…
- Scream like a stuck pig if anyone tries to do any of this to you
Imagine if someone was to do this outside of an abortion clinic, say. Oh wait – people have. The reaction was (rightly so) one of outrage and concern. These are the tactics of social terrorism.
The good news? This sort of silliness only works if you allow it to. Some crazy lady in a mask puts your picture on the Internet going into an adult video store? Fuck them. And to hell with any small minded person who tries to ruin your life about it.
If you allow these propel to define the playing field, to define whether you are a good or bad person and in the end if you allow them to force their own shame and pain upon you then you will be forever their whipping boy.
