Take a guess… what is the agenda of a feminist blog called “Capitalism Bad; Tree Pretty” going to be? I’d think it was humor but no one on that blog has ever really demonstrated any
While discussing yet another case where someone flat out provably lied about a rape to get attention or revenge author Maia was quick to make a few points. I’ll summarize.
- False rape accusations are around 2% (except of course that is untrue, there is good evidence that it is much higher)
- Even if it is false, the accuser has probably been raped or abused at some point in their life – so this isn’t a problem with them, it’s still the patriarchy’s fault.
- Despite the fact that police officers deal with false rape accusations all the time (and don’t have the reality distortion filter of radical feminism in place) their natural skepticism is not experience but misogyny.
- The poor dears clearly need help.
- Making false rape accusations shouldn’t (god forbid) hurt anyone’s credibility the next time they decide to do it.
Of course any vaugly remembered traums for an accuser is cause for great concern and understanding. The trauma of those victimized by a legal system way quick on the trigger?
“Well, that’s unfortunate that you went through that, but what’s your point? That women complaining of rape should be assumed to be liars until proved to be telling the truth?” – quote in context
In short? Screw you and the “innocent till proven guilty” horse you rode in on.
