Some thoughts from the entries to “Take Back the Blog“…
“Coercion is a paradigm case of power over, and not only that but a paradigm case of its misuse.* Even people like me who think that not every form of power over is bad or wrong will agree that coercion is unacceptable. If you’re really committed to limiting or stopping power over being used harm women (and, I would hope, being used to harm anyone at all), then I do not see how you can ever accept the idea that it’s proper to coerce one” – Trinity at The Strangest Alchemy
I wonder if Stormy understands any of this? Hell, there’s more of the same there…
“The threats, the hate, the abuse directed towards female bloggers (see see see see see) all involve one end. Female silence. There’s other misogynist undercurrents, of course, but in the end, that isn’t as important as getting women to not speak up.” – John Goff @ i am jack’s non-blog
Someone tell me again how threatening a woman’s life, job, family relations and safety with the publication of personal information (looking at you Stormy) unless she shuts up and toes the line you want her too doesn’t qualify? Hell, by all accounts this isn’t even the first time the Stormster has tried to shut someone up.
The part of this that is most illustrative is to be found on Stormy’s (old) blog… the one where Stormy decides to bitch about how much pressure she is being put under, and how offensive it is to be the subject of attacks because of her words on it.
“This is counterproductive, and would lead to self-censoring when blogging, or at the very least, having to explain every fucking sentence in painful detail to clarify meaning. And dare I say, quite the buzz-kill.” – Stormy, stunningly full of irony
Yuppers, she really brought all that raised consciousness with her when she decided to try and blackmail another female blogger into keeping her mouth shut on non Stormy approved topics didn’t she?
