Personally I have always liked Lance Armstrong. He is a good guy and a super athlete. His devotion to fighting cancer is also unquestioned. One of the things I admire about him is that he has always managed to avoid being hateful or acting in a way that seemed out of control or full of rage.
So the decision of the Lance Armstrong Foundation to align itself with public relations nightmare and hate monger Amanda Marcotte is somewhat confusing. Perhaps as John Kerry later claimed Lance is simply entirely unaware of the type of people being associated with his organization?
Unfortunately I am left with two conclusions:
- Lance finds Amanda’s track record of violent, hate filled attacks completely acceptable for his charity
- Lance is so disconnected fro the day to day decision making that he may as well be only a figurehead
In either case, I find that I can no longer support of recommend the Lance Armstrong Foundation, and that sucks.
