Free range poon hunting…

Another comment I’ll post here for posterity. This one is in response to a post by Ren to the Feminist Critics blog on the topic of sexual availability and prostitution. It is a pretty good one. Personally I think she is hitting her stride at the moment as a blogger.

“I resolve to use the phrase “free range poon” in casual conversation.

Who we can and will hook up with sexually is a reality subject to competition. It is, even without prostitution, a market… driven by market forces. This is not something many people want to accept and they will go way out of their way to try and waive it away… but deep down we know it’s true.

Like many markets there will be many, many more folks in the middle than at either end. The problems arise when the folks who cannot score the big game whine about it being unfair. That’s when they start tying themselves in knots – hating others, hating themselves. Hell, some of them will even try and claim the whole market is flawed. But it isn’t.

People with less to offer will not score the kind of sexual partners or mates in any given context that those with more to offer will. What “has to offer” means will, by the way, often vary from context to context though there are broad influences in the human species for it. This means that nor everyone will be banging the top catch from their desired sex. It means that the most successful individuals will get more, and better, poon than others. It means that those who are less desirable will get less shots at poon than those in the middle.

As with any market if your not happy with what your getting from it your much better off to stop crying about it and increase your value. Hit a gym. Make more money. Learn poetry. Gain confidence. Become a better catch.

Or change your market context. Prostitution is an example of that. Change the context to one where money is much more important. Then if you have money, you will get laid.

It’s pretty simple if you stop trying to pretend the market doesn’t exist.” – link
