I am Jacks complete lack of sympathy.

I have discussed before the inevitable collapse of any "coalition" founded primary on the idea of manufactured victimhood. When the going gets tough these folks turn on each other with the only weapons you ever trained them to use and for which you have always rewarded them in the past.

  1. Accuse ( person / group / race / gender / facts ) of oppressing you, thus casting yourself as a victim
  2. Use your victim status to demand special treatment or force reality to bend to your will
  3. If #2 works and you get a concession, return to #2 and repeat with more outrageous demands
  4. When your demands in #2 inevitably fail to be met, you can move on to protests and disruption… feel free to get yourself arrested, that’s part of the fun!
  5. If #4 works, go back to #2 and repeat
  6. When #4 fails you can now feel justified in taking "direct action" and begin blowing things up, suppressing dissenting views with violence and claiming it is all "their" fault

The Clinton / Obama camps have now turned on each other with a vengeance. The accusations and protests are well under way as the whole rattling nightmare lurches in the direction of step 6.

"No, I won’t post specific attacks here. That would just be repeating the lies and the hate, but I will note that one of my fellow Kossaks (someone with whom I thought I could agree to disagree) went so far as to suggest that others try to dig up real life information on the pro-Hillary members of our community.  To what end?  Was his aim to find enough information on us to try to get us fired from our jobs and leave our families homeless – or worse?  Suggesting that they dig up real life information on us is the lowest form of intimidation and goes way beyond the limits of all things civil and reasonable.  It’s nothing more than the worst form of thuggish, hateful and intimidating behavior toward other members of our community." – quote in context (emphasis mine)

What is amusing is that they seem to be surprised at this. Have they not been watching themselves for the last 8 years or so? This is classic behavior from these people. When you are so clear in seeing yourself as the underdog it is easy to toss all proportion out the window and feel justified in going for the throat. Did they really think that most of the more rabid screamers really cared about fighting "the man" No. These are people with an emotional need to rabidly attack anyone who doesn’t kiss their ass… they don’t actually care who that is. Friend or foe. At least some of them are honest about it, even gleeful…

"nothing has changed here… in terms of tactics or tone.  We’ve never pulled any punches here when it comes to the centrists, the equivocators, the triangulators, the DLCers, and the Washington insiders.  For Christsake, kos wrote a book about it.  And the Clintons "wrote the book" on just those things we despise:  equivocation, triangulation, the DLC, etc.  How were our attacks of Lieberman any more respectful?  The only difference is now we’re attacking a candidate whom YOU feel strongly about." – a response by jdodsonvls

In short…

"So of course we attack her.  Its what we do." – a response by jdodsonvls

I was going to recommend the story of "The Turtle and the Scorpion" here, but I find that "The Girl and the Snake" captures more of the real analogy.

A young girl was trudging along a mountain path, trying to reach her grandmother’s house. It was bitter cold, and the wind cut like a knife. When she was within sight of her destination, she heard a rustle at her feet.

Looking down, she saw a snake. Before she could move, the snake spoke to her. He said, "I am about to die. It is too cold for me up here, and I am freezing. There is no food in these mountains, and I am starving. Please put me under your coat and take me with you."

"No," replied the girl. "I know your kind. You are a rattlesnake. If I pick you up, you will bite me, and your bite is poisonous."

"No, no," said the snake. "If you help me, you will be my best friend. I will treat you differently."

The little girl sat down on a rock for a moment to rest and think things over. She looked at the beautiful markings on the snake and had to admit that it was the most beautiful snake she had ever seen.

Suddenly, she said, "I believe you. I will save you. All living things deserve to be treated with kindness."

The little girl reached over, put the snake gently under her coat and proceeded toward her grandmother’s house.

Within a moment, she felt a sharp pain in her side. The snake had bitten her.

"How could you do this to me?" she cried. "You promised that you would not bite me, and I trusted you!"

"You knew what I was when you picked me up," hissed the snake as he slithered away.

The Democratic party has been accumulating snakes and pretending they were something else. Now they are bitten and bleeding.

I am Jacks complete lack of sympathy.
