Blame check: Yup. It’s still all the white guys fault.

If you ever wondered why people work so hard to see themselves as victims, it’s simple: they get a free pass to be assholes and then blame someone else. For instance, did you know that according to at least one feminist community it is impossible for a non-white to be racist in America?

feminist defines racism as prejudice + power. Given that definition, the people with whom you work are not racist. They may be bigoted, but they do not have institutional power in the United States.” – a nice “get out of racism free” card

It’s no wonder these types of folks are so quick to dismiss the insanity of someone like Wright. Inter-minority racism has an interesting set of qualities. Not only doesn’t it exist but even if it did it’s just a tool of the white man.

“Brining it back to white racism brings it home. Where is the acknowledgment anywhere in this thread that it is the consumption of white racism by POC is part and parcel to the whole damn thing.” – quote in context

Oh, and to even talk about it is to be doing the white mans work.

“And I will repeat what I said above: I think discussing these issues in this forum WITHOUT a discussion of white racism is a dodge. After all, if people of color are so terribly bigoted, what does it matter if white people are racist, right?” – quote in context

And in addition to all that you should remember if you’re white that any attempt to even discuss any of this is evil.

“quite frankly, as a white person, there is nothing you can or should do about intra-POC discussions about our prejudices and how we relate to one another. White racism is a huge contributing factor to intra-POC prejudice, and doing your part to dismantle white privilege, by engaging other white people on the topic of racism, will go a hell of a lot further towards providing a solution than any well-intentioned meddling in POC communities.” – quote in context

Yuppers. It sure looks like Obama has opened up a real frank conversation. It’s a whole new day isn’t it?
