James Cone, Reverend Wrights good buddy and Obama’s next problem.

James Cone is another of these "old time" racists. What you might call a fire and brimstone kind of racist.

"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community … Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love." – James Cone

Ok. So cone is a racist. What does that have to do with Wright?

"I do not in any way disagree with Dr. Cone, nor do I in any way diminish the inimitable and incomparable contributions that he has made and that he continues to make to the field of theology. Jim, incidentally, is a personal friend of mine." – Rev. Wright

Why is this important? Well it wouldn’t be. That one racist reverend spends time kissing the rear end of another even more racist reverend isn’t really important at all. Except that Rev. Wright is a close friend and mentor ot a presidential candidate. This is a man who shaped Barack Obama for more than 20 years. A man who could very well be very involved in shaping national policy if Obama gets elected.

Personally? I don’t see why people would vote for someone who either bought into all this for 20 years or was to stupid or weak to walk away in all that time. You pick what his problem is… but Barack has one.
