Obama’s Plumber Problem

Just one week ago an Obama victory looked inevitable. He was up in the polls by double digits and the McCain camp couldn’t find a way to dent the momentum. Let’s be honest, once the media and many of the voters decide the facts don’t matter then you do have a hard time making a case. Hell, since some Obama supporters even continue to support him if you swap his positions with McCain’s it’s pretty clear information alone won’t help.

Things looked so good in fact that small children were forced to sing Obama hymns, cults began to form and schoolbooks glorifying the rise of The One were written. And all this before the seas start to retreat* and Obama solves climate change. All was rosy in Obamaville and truly the Messiah was among us.

“this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal” Obama promising to save our planet

Then Obama walked up to the wrong guy and started the wrong discussion and it all went horribly wrong. “Joe the Plumber” asked Obama a pretty simple question and by mistake Obama gave him an honest answer.

Joe: “Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?”

Obama: “It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too,” Obama responded. “My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody … I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.

Those sentiments aren’t a shock for many of us who have actually bothered to look at Obama’s tax plan (though to be fair he does change that plan whenever a new poll comes out). It is a very aggressive take on the classic left leaning redistribution of wealth plan, intended mostly to buy voter support from those who imagine themselves oppressed by “the man”. This plan, and those like it, result in fairly drastic economic problems every time they are tried but they are so good for the Democrats vote wise we will keep seeing them forever. For instance Obama has promised tax cute for 95% of Americans though no one in his campaign can cough up the details.

Some of the details we do have however tell us something interesting a whole bunch of people who do pay takes will see there money go out in the form of “refund” checks to a whole lot of folks who don’t pay a single dime in taxes. Far from simply a “tax cut”, Obama favors a flat out socialist style transfer of cash.

“For the Obama Democrats, a tax cut is no longer letting you keep more of what you earn. In their lexicon, a tax cut includes tens of billions of dollars in government handouts that are disguised by the phrase “tax credit.” Mr. Obama is proposing to create or expand no fewer than seven such credits for individuals” The Wall Street Journal

Anyway poor Joe tricked Obama into being honest about his plans in plan language  by the simple rouse of asking him when there wasn’t a teleprompter around. Since then, things haven’t gone so well for Obama. His already sliding poll numbers have brought McCain back into striking distance and Joe has turned into a powerful rallying point for the right. There are a few reasons for this but let’s see the simple and effective ad Joe inspired and when you are done, go read his interview and then his talk with Katie Couric.

That’s only half the story though. The other half is the part that seems to be hurting Obama more backlash against the left wing savaging of this guy because he dared to ask a question.

“I was at LSAT class tonight and the instructor had the audacity to state that Joe the Plumber is a “lunatic” fit to be paralized because he allegedly questioned the merits of social security. The instructor then went on to construct a sample question in which Joe the Plumber is confined to a wheel chair because he has been run down by McCain’s ‘straight talk express’ bus.” stories of the backlash

The more Obama and his surrogates attack this common man the easier it becomes to point out that Dear Leader isn’t really so nice a guy and that this “Hope and Change” line is smoke and mirrors.

So, what are the consequences for daring to ask a question of “The One”?

I think this is a big opening for McCain and severe vulnerability for the Obamassiah. The lessons are becoming so obvious that only hardened Obama dreamers can deny them, and they are lessons that traditionally Americans don’t tolerate well.

  1. Thou shalt not offend The One by asking him a question.  Of any kind.
  2. Anyone who questions The One will have to undergo a public pillorying of a kind unseen since the Red Scare, or perhaps the Inquisition.
  3. The Tanning-Bed Media will happily participate in any inquisition, as long as it keeps them from investigating irrelevant issues like Obama’s ties to the Chicago Machine, William Ayers, ACORN, or his record on protecting infanticide.

List from the guys over at Hot Air

Of course there is a reason that the Obama supporters are all over this guy because he dared to bring up the reality they have been trying to hide. Obama is as far left as it gets, raised at the feet of socialists and radicals, mentored by more of the same and politically beholden to the rabid far left. They know that this is a thinly hidden thing it must be because half of their support depends on them making sure the far left knows this all the while they try and sugar coat it just enough to slip it in as if it was moderate.

The messiah is naked under the flashing lights and they are desperately afraid the illusion will slip too early. Joe lifted the curtain a bit and they are rabidly trying to destroy him but their barking and slavering is just drawing more and more attention.

Look for the panic and attacks to increase as they get more and more desperate. We call it “Joe The Plumber Derangement Syndrome“.

*note it won’t be too hard for Obama to deliver on this promise since the sea levels have been declining for years, but when has a little thing like reality ever mattered to the eco-fringe?
