The rise in power of the left absolutely requires you to feel ashamed of your views.

The whole foundation of victim politics is getting well meaning, honest and reasonable people to shoulder the burden of others. It demands that you accept their equivalencies and premises. Examples…

• Don’t agree with quotas and special treatment? You must be a racist.
• Don’t think that 12 year olds should be able to get an abortion without informing their parents? You’re an anti-choice woman hater.
• Don’t like the idea of someone burning the U.S. flag? You’re a tyrant who hates free speech.
• Speak out against higher taxes? You’re a dangerous hate filled extremist who the FBI should watch.
• Want to keep the money you worked to earn? You’re a greedy asshole who wants the poor to die in the streets.
• Don’t believe illegal immigrants should have the right to vote? Yup, racist again!

The entire narrative of the left is designed to convince you that you are stupid, hated filled and uncaring. They need you to feel undeserving and willing to be sacrificed to the needs of others. Most of all it is designed to make you feel isolated. The last thing the want is for you to feel pride. For you to reject their narrative. For you to believe in yourself and your values.

Thanks to the internet the left is rapidly losing control of the narrative. As the plummeting ratings of CNN, MSNBC and other stations attest the general public is no longer just sucking up the bias. The more they try and ratchet up the bluster the dumber the look – and the less influence they have.

After spending months now tryign to paint the Tea Party as a movement of ignorant racists the left has finally decided that it is time to manufacture the news they want to see. A full scale series of infiltration attempts has been kicked off – with hilarious results.

For instance, we can point and chuckle at the idiocy of Jason Levin (that’s him holding the t-shirt). That is the super genius behind the website “Crash the Tea Party”. Our boy Jason is a middle school teacher – and he is even now on suspension because he created and posted this idiocy on school time and equipment. Frankly, they should just flat out suspend or fire him for being a moron. Last I checked “incite violence” wasn’t a subject we wanted taught in school*.

On it’s own this is just sort of sad and pathetic. I mean, moonbats have spent a lot of time and energy trying to drum up support so it is no shock that they would snap when faced with a real grass roots movement. Every party has their crazies right? Right.

Things get really interesting when folks who have official ties to the democratic party or its various associated groups. For instance, John Durajczyk who is the Secretary of the St. Charles County Democratic Committee and spent time being a violent infiltrator of a Tea Party rally. Just to be sociable, John brought with him a good friend named Steve Belosi who proceeded to amusing himself by attaching an elderly woman at the rally. To be fair, its the only real trick Steve has since it isn’t the first time Steve Belosi has been seen at political events attacking women. Among Steve’s other awesome traits are close ties to Code Pink, the ACLU and being a 9/11 truther nutjob.

So to recap…

• The Democratic party and their far left supporters are completely panicked.
• They have utterly failed to portray the Tea Party as racists.
• They look utterly stupid in the process.

I am sure Van is a man who passionately believes the craziness he believes. He probably means well. In a way, that’s sadder. He is a self described communist, author of the deeply crazy “The Green Collar Economy” and a key figure in the more fringe areas of the “eco” movement. As with other close allies Obama as thrown under a bus Van Jones was sacrificed as soon as it became clear what kind of fool he actually is.

Van Jones is the perfect Obama hanger on. The concept of signing stuff because it sounds good without actually reading is a core virtue for this administration.

Van Jones, the Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, is Number 46 of the petitioners from the so-called "Truther" movement which suggests that people in the administration of President George W. Bush "may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war."

In a statement issued Thursday evening Jones said of "the petition that was circulated today, I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever."

He did not explain how his name came to be on the petition. An administration source said Jones says he did not carefully review the language in the petition before agreeing to add his name.* – Van Jones statment

Before Van Jones was a “I didn’t mean it” truther signing petitions wondering if President Bush was a 9/1 conspirator, he was firmly in the camp of “we deserved what we got”. On September 12th, 2001 – just one day after the 9/11 attacks Van Jones stood in front of a rally of far left activists and had this to say…

"The bombs the government drops in Iraq are the bombs that blew up in New York City," said Van Jones, director of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, who also warned against forthcoming violence by the Bush Administration. "The US cannot bomb its way out of this one. Safety at home requires justice abroad." – Obama “Czar” Van Jones

In a way, he was being fairly circumspect in his comments. Many of those who were at the rally were much more open with their feelings and hatred.

In a larger sense the Van Jones incident is a summary of the entire media treatment of Obama and his administration. The damaging information has been available for months on the internet, the subject of much discussion on political blogs and eventually the voting public. However even as the furor got so loud that Obama had to put Van Jones down like an ailing farm animal in most of the “main stream” media you heard and read not one single peep about it all. As soon as it became clear that the problem wouldn’t go away they turned their attention to the common Obama apologist checklist.

1. Those evil right wing bloggers, they made a mountain out of a molehill
2. ___________ (insert name of victim under bus here) didn’t mean what they said
3. Obama had no idea that ____________ said anything of the type
4. While Obama totally supports ___________ and thanks them for their service, they have decided to resign
5. Poor Obama, how could he be expected to be responsible for the views of the people who appoints to positions of power?

7. Anyone who speaks against Obama or _____________ is clearly a racist

The idea of the person I am responding to is that since some in the UN seem to feel that the invasion of Iraq was against UN mandate and since UN mandates are binding by treaty (since we signed onto the UN charter) that thus all UN mandates are legally binding upon the leadership of the United States.

The US is not bound to all UN declarations as if they were constitutionally sacrosanct. In short, the UN charter does not serve to raise each and every US mandate to the level of treaty provision, nor are treaties empowered above congress or the Presidency.

To believe that it is so is to, in effect, hand final control over US policy and security to the UN, and that is simply not the case in either theoretical or actual fact. Part of your misunderstanding of this stems from a simplistic and incomplete understanding of the issues at every single level.

You’ll have to pardon me – I really wasn’t aware till now of the depth to which you actually misunderstood this legal situation. Let’s start with your pet quotation…

“THE SUPREMACY CLAUSE Article. VI. This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.”

The language here is fairly clear, the treaties made by the federal government supersede state law and are the “law of the land”. That language means that treaties, being an act of congress, then become themselves an act of congress. They do not trump congress (who approved the invasion of Iraq and thus authorization for that invasion was also the “law of the land”) or the president in those circumstances where the Presidency is empowered to act without congressional approval.

This is an old and settled area of law by the way which is one of the reasons it took a while to sink in how entirely you misunderstand it.

“Can a treaty override an individual right protected under the Constitution? In its 1957 decision in Reid v. Covert, the Supreme Court held that the “obvious and decisive answer to this, of course, is that no agreement with a foreign nation can confer power on the Congress, or on any other branch of Government, which is free from the restraints of the Constitution.” There is perhaps no element of the foreign relations law canon more universally held than the proposition that constitutional rights prevail as against inconsistent international agreements; a consensus of commentators, courts, and other constitutional actors has long held that, in this respect, the Constitution stands supreme.” – Source: Peter J. In short, the US Constitution is supreme over any treaty. That means, among other things, that we cannot give away by treaty the provisions in the Constitution that allow the president and congress to initiate military action.

Just for starters, you may want to begin your education on this topic with Reid v. Covert (1957). In short, it has been conclusively ruled by the Supreme Court that treaties do NOT supersede the Constitution. Since the Constitution grants the President and Congress the power to use military force (and since Bush did in fact follow constitutional law before the Iraq invasion) the issue of whether or not that might conflict with treaties (the UN) is moot.

Did you really think that the US constitution would demand that we place our ability to defend ourselves under the authority of a foreign power? Never mind answering – yes, you did.
