I did a little bit of research just before this show – it’s on this little napkin here. I looked up the definition of sedition which is conduct or language inciting rebellion against the authority of the state. And a lot of these statements, especially the ones coming from people like Glenn Beck and to a certain extent Sarah Palin, rub right up close to being seditious.read more

CNN’s only problem is – no one cares about them any more.

You must understand that when leftists get all teary eyed about freedom of the press and the unfettered flow of information they didn’t actually mean it. The last thing they want is the inability to shape the message. The lefts agenda absolutely depends on the ability to define the arguments and tell the rest of us what it is OK to say and think. Let to ourselves, humans have a tendency to run away from socialist crap like the poison it is.

The only response they have to this night mare is to spin harder… to try to shape the message even more our of line with reality. In short, more of the same. All the while they shake their heads and wail to Gaia about how we just don’t seem to care what names they call us anymore.

All of this adds up to some absolutely epic failures of propaganda. Hell, if the staff at Pravda had been this bad at what they did there would have been double shifts at the firing squad barracks just to keep up.

For instance, this is what CNN considers “hundreds… at least dozens” of people. The event is a Tea Party rally in Searchlight Nevada to demonstrate against Harry Reid and the Obama administration – you can see much more over at Left Coast Rebel. Now, to be fair, CNN has been having a lot of trouble with numbers lately. Larry King is down 43% for the quarter and the rest of the network isn’t doing any better. Don’t expect CNN to recover any time soon either, since they can continue to spout this kind of silliness.

Meanwhile, Fox is doing very, very well with many of it’s shows gaining huge numbers of viewers. Expect CNN and others to start whining for government intervention any day now.

• You are weak and incapable, you must look to us for the things you desire
• You are stupid and powerless, you must look to us for answers
• You are evil and easily led astray, you must look to us to save you from yourselves
• You are weak and vulnerable, you must look to us for protection

The power base they have built over the years has that mantra as it’s foundation. It is a powerful message because it offers it’s adherents not only the promise of getting the things they desire without having to work for or deserve them but provides a moral justification so that they can quell any conscience that might trouble them.

When in trouble then, they will reach for those same points over and over again. Anyone who opposed them must be a racist, a “greedy capitalist” or a hate filled potential oppressor. The success of these accusations depended on a few elements.

1. That those who were accused would be embarrassed and abashed, thus going on the defensive
2. That those who were accused could be prevented from communicating a response even if they wished to

In this internet, highly connected age #2 is getting harder and harder to pull off. That hasn’t kept the dinosaur media from trying though. CNN, MSNBC, the Associated Press and most of the newspapers have been carrying so much water for Obama and friends of late they make Pravda seem like it was an independent news source.

So, now that people can communicate directly with each other things are getting interesting. Since the members of the victim culture are essentially passive and depend on others to create the forums that they then use to grouse on, high tech communication gives an edge to people who are self starters and who believe that they can influence things.

In short, the sheep don’t do well on the Internet. As with all free frontiers it favors the industrious and talented.

For a while though the status quo held on. Because of his skin color Obama extended this a bit – anyone who didn’t agree with him can and was labeled a racist and the lingering stigma of that attack shut down dissent just enough to put him into the White House. That this was the last real gasp of the enforced silence by way of accusation wasn’t clear to anyone at the time… but we see it now.

It must be amazing to Obama, Reid and Pelosi that they have had to fight so hard to pass their agenda. It should have been a cake-walk. Attack the big corporations as being greedy, attack the Republicans as heartless pigs who want babies to die and then toss the term “racist” around anywhere you couldn’t find a better excuse. History had told them that this combination would shut down dissent and allow them to have their sweetheart deals without a whimper of protest. Not only did they have to fight, but the opposition solidified into the seed of the first real third party the USA will have ever had – the Tea Party.

The old tricks aren’t working any more – but they are trying all of them. Most recently they are dragging out the faux horror and outrage of the scared victim. Things have become to mean they say. Some of them have even begun questioning whether the first amendment covers saying bad things about our Dear Leader and his cohorts. With one hand on their foreheads they manage to ask us to consider that all this anger is dangerous right before they faint into a self-righteous heap.

The problem is… we have the internet. We remember the things that CNN is making sure they don’t ever bring up.

 

We remember this going on for years without a peep from the DNC. Without all the weeping and gnashing of teeth that is happening now. We remember the media dismissing these things, when they bothered to mention it at all, as free speech in action.

So when they get all teary eyed and try and convince us that Sarah Palin is inciting violence by using a common phrase like…

“It’s not a time to retreat, it’s a time to reload.” – Sarah Palin

It makes you wonder how far their head is up their own ass. Even when Sarah goes back and spells it out for them, they persist in sticking to their talking points. Here are her expanded remarks on this issue…

“SARAH PALIN: When I talk about it’s not a time to retreat, it’s a time to reload, what I’m talking about — now, media, try to get this right, okay? That’s not inciting violence. What that’s doing is trying to inspire people to get involved in their local elections and these upcoming federal elections. It’s telling people that their arms are their votes. It’s not inciting violence. It’s telling people, don’t ever let anybody tell you to sit down and shut up, Americans” – source

And now let’s hear from a member of CNN’s panel as he tells us to, in essence, sit down and shut up.

“LEMON: Mark, listen, freedom of speech. I always say that people have a right to say whatever they want. I will fight tooth and nail for that, but is it responsible for someone to say that? Especially a leader, considering the anger that’s going on right now?” – source

It must seem like such a perfect plan. Pass the least popular bit of legislation in decades against the will of the electorate. Use the slimiest tricks available to pass it in order to minimize debate and then work hard to shut down all the voices who are justifiably upset with what you have done by pretending that this dissent is dangerous.

The thing is, in order for all this to work out you need to somehow imply that the national parties are responsible for every action that occurs, even on the fringe, and then condemn them all with every infraction. That could backfire badly unless you can control the message. For instance you certainly won’t see this little gem on CNN while they choke up about how mean Republicans are.

   

That would spoil the narrative. Neither will you hear a peep out of the AP about the recent attacks on Tea Party members in Nevada where Harry Reid supporters threw eggs at vehicles and individuals, including the totally awesome Andrew Breitbart. Hell, according to the AP that sort of thing apparently counts as a warm welcome. Of course had a single egg found it’s way FROM a Tea Party person the screaming would have been deafening. And maybe therein you have the heart of the difference…

A whole lot of the current crop of Dem supporters are whining pussies who have no shame.

They are completely willing to pretend that a thrown egg was a life threatening attack and collect spend the next few years needing PTSD treatment. In general Republicans have a little something we call “pride” and as such don’t really have the ability to fall onto the floor calling for our mommies when things get a little rough.

In case you have gotten this far and wonder what it takes for CNN to begrudgingly admit that there is some violence out there that isn’t spawned in the Tea Party, the answer is an actual arrest for making death threats.

“A 33-year-old Pennsylvania man has been arrested for threatening to kill Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia, the number two Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives, the Justice Department announced Monday” – CNN

Don’t expect CNN to convene another panel to spend a show segment masturbating about how horrible this makes the Democratic Party look. That would be too much like reporting.

Even now, many of these folks will be shaking their heads at the growing backlash against the wave of idiocy spearheaded by the showboating Perez Hilton and thinking to themselves this all just proves how much “the rednecks” hate “the gays”. When it fact it pretty much shows two things… two things most of these people never seem to learn.

• Most of America has a dim view of witch hunts, thought crime and assassination by outrage
• When you are an asshole, people generally dislike you and let’s be honest, Perez Hilton is truly an asshole.

I am not sure why the gay community is stunned that their marriage legalization efforts are being hampered by the near hysteria and frothing out the mouth insanity that characterizes so much of the public face of the movement. At the moment, the shining light of the public attention in the gay marriage issue is looking at two people. One is Carrie Prejean who has thus far carried her self with class, intelligence and grace. She has not been insulting or angry. She has attacked no one.

The other is a hateful publicity hound who has represented his opinions badly. Among other things he called her a “dumb bitch” and then later told us all he really wanted to call her a cunt, but chickened out. But I think we can sum up Perez Hiltons entire intellectual capacity by his own hands by simply showing the crux of his response to Carrie.

I can’t imagine why Carrie would be getting support, and Perez would be getting slammed for being an idiot. It clearly must be homophobia.

And they are crucifying her for it… led by Perez Hilton, a man who’s main claim to fame is drawing semen on celebrity photos so he can get around copyright laws. Truly he is an ethical voice of reason. We do have to give the little guy credit though – he knows how to make use of his 15 minutes of fame to make a grab for another 15 minutes. When he was inexplicably given a spot as a judge at the Miss USA contest he did what he had to do.

He laid a trap in a bid to cause controversy.

Earlier tonight I had a discussion with someone close to me and I felt at the time that Perez had probably asked the question in good faith and was surprised by the answer… now I believe otherwise. In the words of his fellow judge he was secretive…

“Interestingly, of the 5 judges who asked questions, Perez was the only one who had written his own question…& when I asked him what his question was, he would not reveal it, telling me he wanted to keep it secret, but that it had been approved by Paula Shugart & the producers.” – Alicia

As it turns out there is a good chance that Miss California would not have won anyway – but certainly she was doomed as hell the moment she answered that question honestly. This was certainly the wrong place to expect to be able to speak freely on this topic. The more we learn, in fact, the more it becomes clear that this young lady knew – had to know – exactly what she was risking with her honesty.

To be clear, I fully understand that these questions matter and that is one of the reasons they get asked… so that the judges can decide who they think would be a good representative and role model. Certainly no judge should feel compelled to support a contestant who holds a view they feel is a bad one in that regard. If Carrie had simply lost the pageant we wouldn’t be having this blog post. I also completely understand that folks of good conscience can be upset by her response, and how it might make them feel like there is a long way to go in the name of tolerance and the struggle for full acceptance of gays in our world.

What I object to is the entirely overblown outrage. The hands clutching the chests “oh my, how could this have ever happened to us? if we had only known she was a Nazi we would have shot her at birth” kind of crap. That sort of rhetoric and the over-reaction is what takes a difference of opinion (good) well into an attempt to crush dissent and create an atmosphere where to step outside the groupthink will not be tolerated (bad). Alicia (who herself is desperately searching for relevance in a world that only really started caring about her when she got in a bitch fest with Holly Madison) is leading the whoa is me brigade.

“Personally, I was STUNNED on several levels. First, how could this young woman NOT know her audience and judges? Let’s not forget that the person asking the question is an openly gay man, at least 2 people on the judges panel are openly gay. Another judge has a sister in a gay marriage. Her very own state pageant director, KEITH LEWIS is an openly gay man who has been a very generous benefactor of hers…in many ways. Did I mention I was STUNNED” – Alicia

I can imagine she was… how dare someone stand proud in their beliefs? I mean, that’s not right… weren’t all those people suppose to vaporize once Obama got elected? Obama who by the way Perez Hilton supported in the last election and who has also expressed less than complete support for gay marriage. Then again, who expects consistency from monsieur Hilton?

Poor Alicia in her feigned naiveté then goes on to wonder if maybe there is a god after all who reached down personally and saved us from a potential nightmare. To think how close we came as a nation to the yawning abyss of intolerance. I mean, if a beauty queen dares speak out with her real opinions the next thing you know just about anyone might think they can speak there mind… and we sure as hell can’t let that happen.

“It has occurred to me that the all-knowing power of the Universe took over the final 15 minutes of the Miss USA telecast. What were the odds that Perez Hilton, an openly gay man, who insisted on writing his own question, would have his name randomly selected by Miss California? Thank goodness, or thank the universe for this occurrence…how horrible if Miss California USA’s lack of good judgement had not been disclosed until it was too late?” – Alicia

Gee – what are the odds? It almost smells like a set up? I mean what with the vast majority of the staff obviously deeply politically involved in this issue and an attention hound like Perez at the focal point, what are the odds?

Oh please… let’s be honest. These assholes set this girl up from the get-go. They really nailed her good right? Ooops. Wrong.

What they did was overplay their hand. The manipulation is so transparent, the faux outrage so moronic and Perez Hilton suck a mincing toady that there is a pretty amusing backlash. At its core, this country still believes int he idea of freedom of thought and freedom of speech. After years of hearing from these same fools that politics have no place in these pageants we see now who is dragging it all right back in.

I want to be clear – I completely support the gay marriages. If I had my way the government would get the hell out of the whole mess and simply allow for civil unions and leave the word marriage up for grabs by whatever religions want to bother with it. I want this to happen, and I support it as a concept.

I am, however, much more repulsed and dismayed by these politically correct vultures (Perez Hilton and the others) who have dragged out all sorts of stupid hyperbole to try and convince us that daring to hold a differing opinion on this issue makes this girl evil or dangerous. She is neither. She is certainly braver than Perez Hilton, Alicia and many others who simply cannot fathom looking into those cameras and fully knowing what was at stake sucking it up and being flat out honest. They cannot fathom it because they never did it and wouldn’t know how. I would prefer many many more like her who disagree with me than an arbitrary number of vicious, shameful Perez Hiltons… at least Carrie understands what it means to show some spine.

Other reactions have been amusing… for now lets just a quote from Perez’s nominal peers in the celeb blogger camp. Granted, the folks who run The Blemish don’t have the talent required to hand draw a massive peni
s onto a picture of Madonna, but they seem to do OK anyway.

Amusing

And to all the girls out there looking for a message in all this mess here is the one Perez and friends want you to take away. Always answer the question the way the judges want you two, or they will attack you personally like the scum you so clearly are. And smile big!

I am not impressed and this says something about me. Something good.

I am not impressed, or shocked, or surprised or stunned because I have never believed that ugly people were incapable of talent. When I see an ugly woman take the stage I am not at all assuming she cannot sing in much the same way I don’t assume a hot chick can. In short, I don’t confuse looks and talent, or looks and skill, or looks and personality.

I find that reality amusing because every time I post something to do with beauty I get comments and email from outraged fools who say essentially the same thing…

“I would rather be with an ‘ugly’ partner who had heart than some skinny botch who is hateful and shallow’”

To these commenter’s those really are the choices – the fundamentally reject beautiful women as evil, selfish harpies. I suppose the old hurts of getting asked last to the prom left a scar much deeper than they care to admit. They will accuse me (and others) of confusing looks and personality while their own prejudice and envy drips from their core.

When someone like Susan Boyle shows up then they look triumphantly around and declare that this proves something, provides some lesson we need. They do this because they simply cannot fathom that not everyone else is as confused about looks and personality as they are.

I am only moved to post this because my good friend over at MindTweaks posted about it… so I noticed it right away when she said this…

I like Tori, I do… she is a friend and a talented educator. I dislike disagreeing with her in one of the first posts after my election hiatus. I wouldn’t even link to the post so as not to look like I am picking a fight with her but I really need the traffic and I am hoping she will link back to me in an angry retort!

Besides, this isn’t really a direct conflict with Tori on this – we have discussed the topic often enough to know that neither of our views are as black and white as they look on the internet – but rather her comment reminded me of similar sentiments springing from far less well balanced authors and I would rather link to a friend than a flake when I can.

That “obsession” with beautiful people? It’s called sexual attraction and has been with us long, long before there was television, the internet or even writing. Long before the invention of the supermodel beautiful women have commanded our attention and interest. Centuries before Photoshop was even a concept wars were fought for them, men died and nations fates were changed right? Right. The modern media doesn’t create the idea of what is beautiful – it simply caters to it.

Susan Boyle is ugly. Whether or not she is “average” doesn’t really enter into it – because beauty is not something that has anything to do with the average. It never has been. Susan is well outside the standards that define beauty and have for almost all of human history.

• She is asymmetrical
• Her chest / waist / hip ratio is atrocious
• Her hair has all the hallmarks of ill health
• Ditto her skin, the texture is bad and the coloring is mottled
• Her movements betray the reality – that she is a very damaged person physically

In short, Susan is a living example of WHY most humans will find her unattractive – because she is a fairly unsuitable mate and an wholly bad idea for a breeding partner. For 99% of human existence she would have been a  millstone around the neck of her family and any potential husband. I am happy that we live in a time when folks like Susan can live long and well, when they have the opportunity to sing and make a living. I am thrilled that she is no longer at the mercy of a world that demands fitness to survive from those who live on it.

However let’s not pretend she is “average” or that the aversion to her is something without basis and wholly created by the media. Susan Boyle is a probably lovely person and she can sing, but she is ugly. She is not a shining symbol of anything, and she is no more a source of hope or enlightenment than anyone else would be who got on that stage and sang well.

There is no moral righteousness in being unattractive and borderline disabled. It doesn’t make here less of a human than the rest of us and it sure as hell doesn’t make her more.

Fortunately the final message of Tori’s post is one that (as is so often the case) gives my brain a happy little kick (or tweak) and reminds me that while I may differ with her on this topic she is a pretty smart lady.
